Fleas in Indianapolis
This post about a NYT article chronicling a museum director's resignation in Indianapolis. This is a positive sign, in my view, for an action taken to rid museum culture of racism. I was unhappy to see it among the professional staff, but like a disease, racism can occur anywhere in the body. I'm more familiar with racism in the leadership structure than in the paid staff.
Apparently this director was also a "business-friendly" type, controversial in his tenure for downplaying art. He instituted a miniature golf course and forced curators to give artworks grades. Yikes. Well, if you lay down with critters, don't be surprised about the fleas.
